For those who want to sail far and fast, and for those who want a sunset without having to look past a bridge, we can go to the East. Soon after entering the lake, we ask a nearby highway to open its drawbridge for us. Once we're past that, the lake extends all the way to the Western Horizon.
On top of unobstructed Western views, we can also visit the Northshore along Slidell's North Shore Beach. We can also venture up Bayou Bonfuca, which stays wild and beautiful for a long way before developed housing starts to appear.
Best of all, we have the wide-open lake, which lets us sail far and fast, experimenting with different sail plans and different angles to the wind. If you want to feel the speed or learn about sailing, this is the trip to hope for.
